Pursuant to the agreement with the World MahJong Organization and the World MahJong Contest Center, GigaMedia Global Limited, a subsidiary of GigaMedia Limited, will be co-hosting the World Series of MahJong and the first World MahJong Championship with the Beijing Triathlon Co., Ltd. GigaMedia seeks to promote the game and the culture of mahjong and establish the world’s number one competition event, the World Series of MahJong.

    The first stop of the 2007 World Series of MahJong begins in Taiwan, followed by regional qualifying tournaments in Denmark,culminating in the grand finale, the World MahJong Championship, to be held in China in November, 2007.

    In addition to the tournaments, the World MahJong Organization designates GigaMedia to be the exclusive software developer of online mahjong games that follow the Mahjong Competition Rules. GigaMedia plans to establish a system of rank certification as well as a practice platform on the web for all fans of MahJong. The standardized criteria of rank certification will be provided by the World MahJong Organization.
